“Put her to death?” I say while the other four Alphas have similar outbursts.

It’s not fair. King Gene can’t actually think it would be right to kill this poor maid, Tara, when she was just doing what her mistress told her to do.

Granted, she should’ve had enough common sense not to put any unknown substance in anyone’s food, and technically, Olga is dead because she agreed to go forward with this awful plan, but everyone knows that this is Emily’s doing–even the king.

“Silence!” King Gene shouts at us, making us bite off our protests. “That is quite enough! I have made my decision, and this woman will be put to death. Now, take her away!”

The guards come in and drag Tara away, as she screams and begs, trying to dig her heels into the floor. The guards are far stronger than her, and within a few moments, she is down the hall far enough that we can’t even hear her screaming anymore.
