I want to sleep longer, but I can’t. Eli’s shoulder is so comfortable, the few hours of sleep I did get as I was nestled against him was deeper than any sleep I’ve had since the last time I fell asleep in the arms of one of my men.

My mind keeps going back to what happened to that poor chef. I’ve learned her name was Olga, and she was a grandmother, besides being a mom. She was sweet and kind, and the reason she died is because she was making sure my food was safe for me and the babies.

And it wasn’t safe… because of Emily.

I feel furious inside, like I want to go track that stupid bitch down and punch her in the face. But I can’t put the babies in danger.

I have to assume that someone else will avenge Olga’s death. Hopefully, the king will handle this correctly, but if he doesn’t, then it will be up to the Moon Goddess.
