Chapter 37. Stone Cold

I edge towards the dreadful beast alone with curious strides while thousands of eyes fall on me. Esos had tried to stop me but since I wouldn’t listen, she let me. After all, it is for the good of the nation for me to kill this beast.
The hoarse breaths of the dragon grow loud as it now stands in proximity, dwarfed by its size. I am pushed into awe at the beauty before me, my pupils dilating, my neck stiffening as the terrifying magnificence it exudes.
The silver scales are even shinier than I perceived earlier, each one tough, and edgy, having a distinct oval shape with a surface craft that tells of the thousand eras that have passed in its existence. The body moves up and down in rhythm, each breath hot and causing mild vibrations of the scales.
