Seated at the very center of a lavish enclave, a feather dances between my fingers, the sound of dripping ink a testament to the ethereal silence of the midnight as I scribble down words of insight in my brown journal—a record of my experiences in this mad realm.
My mother had always encouraged me to read and write since she couldn’t, detailing the benefits it had for my father in his wild journey to ascending the throne of Iridu. At intervals, I would mutter words repeatedly in an attempt to craft my language into a fancy fashion until a knock on the door drifts me out of my pleasant endeavor.
I lift my gaze as the door creaks open, the sight of Edna drifting in, greeting me. Clad in a brown leather garment, her heavy boots make cadet knocks against the tiles. She folds her hands behind making a slight bow before speaking while my gaze remains transfixed on her.
“Forgive me for interrupting your study, Your Grace,” she begins.
