Chapter 13. Heartache

What is he doing here?!

I have planned over and over in my mind what I would do when I finally see Mitch, but I never thought I would get to do so early. It feels like I am mute.

My heart is beating so fast, and it feels like I am losing my breath as I stare at him. My hands are literally shaking, and I feel an incredible wave of sadness wash over me.

“Can I come in?” He asks in a soft tone as he walks closer to me, but I push the door so I can shut it in his face. I do not want to talk to this monster! I am not ready!

“Hey, hey!” He says as he stops the door from closing by using his leg to hold it back.

“Please just let me talk to you,” he begs as I keep trying to push the door shut, but he is too strong.

“Go away!” I yell as tears fall freely from my eyes.

“Please just go away!” I cry out again, and he finally lets go of the door. I close it and instantly lock it as if he is a serial killer seeking to kill me.
