Meghan’s expression hardened, and she leaned forward, her eyes narrowing. “I don’t care about your family drama, Chris. I’m pregnant with your child, and I need to make arrangements for myself and the baby.”

I ran my hand through my hair, frustration mounting. “Look, I understand that this is a difficult situation, but I need time to figure things out. I can’t just hand over a large sum of money to you and never have to see my child again. That would like like selling him or her to you.”
