Chapter 66. Unraveling the Past
Emily’s Pov
Upon entering the castle, the scene changes once again. This isn't the palace I visited a few times months ago; this one is entirely different. The state of the palace is darker and heavier.
I hear soft cries echoing through the castle corridors, and some servants walking hastily to another room at the end of the corridor. I follow the sound until I reach the hall and understand what's happening. I search among the people in the hall for Benson and notice I'm at a funeral. Everyone is dressed in funeral attire; some cry softly, and most hang their heads low.
I approach the tribute mural and notice that the photo of the deceased person is Katherine. Not too far away, a row of chairs is set up, and sitting on it is Benson, approximately nine years old, his father Nick Doorson, and his uncle Jimmy Doorson. I look around and don't find any of Katherine's family, not even her sister Beatrix.
