Chapter 65. The Mind's Journey

Emily’s Pov

My heart races at hearing that. For a few minutes, I'm paralyzed, unsure how to react to it.

Benson continues to wriggle on the low bed, Beatrix's beams of light flicker, and I notice her struggling more and more to maintain the spell. The room's atmosphere grows heavier, to the point where some candles extinguish without any apparent reason, as there's no way for a draft to pass and snuff them out. This startles me, and my concern rises once again.

"Tell me what to do!" I plead to Beatrix. "Tell me how to help her!"

At first, there's no response; Beatrix is too focused on the spell to answer me. I insist once more and approach Benson; his body is feverish, sweat soaking through his shirt and face. I grasp Benson's hand, and the palms of our hands intertwine.
