When I took this job, I was curious about how it was possible for werewolves to have more than one mate. I'm very old, and I've seen it happen with other races, and they were usually extremely strong races.

The last time I recall this happening with werewolves was with one of the ancient Kings, who was a Lycan. He was the last Lycan alive... He reigned for a long time and was murdered by his peers who were jealous of his power. When he lost his mates, he gave up on his will to live and became vulnerable. He was easily defeated.

There are stories in my library about dragons having more than one mate, but now they're practically extinct. The possibility of Sophia being a dragon is non-existent, and so I looked for other options.
