At the restaurant.

As soon as Ethan Carter picked up some food and dropped it into Mara Hawthorne’s bowl, she suddenly gagged, making him jump up and rush to her side.

“You okay, Mara?” he asked anxiously.

“I-it’s nothing, probably just some stomach issues from bad eating habits lately,” Mara gave a faint smile and shook her head gently.

“I’ll take you to the hospital after we eat,” Ethan glanced at her pale face, still feeling uneasy.

After a moment’s pause, Mara nodded softly. “Okay.”

“You allergic to anything? Want me to order something else?” he asked again.

“No need, ordering more would just be a waste. I’ll just eat what I can,”

Mara smiled politely and waved off the idea.

Ethan didn’t insist, seeing she wasn’t budging.
