His warm lips brushed her forehead like a feather-light whisper.

“Good night.”

Snapping out of her daze, Cassandra felt her face flush. She quickly shoved down the strange flutter in her chest and darted off through the back gate of the Taylor residence like she couldn’t get out of there fast enough.

Damien didn’t move. He just stood there silently.

A few minutes later, he saw the curtain on a second-floor window of the mansion being pulled shut. A faint smile tugged at his lips before he finally turned to leave.

“So… are you planning on chasing after Miss Taylor?” Max asked casually while steering the car, rare curiosity in his tone.

“What do you think?” Damien leaned back in his seat, posture relaxed and noble, his cool smile giving nothing away.
