“Thanks for your kindness, Miss Taylor. Jason and I both appreciate it,”

Dr. Jackson said, no longer pressing the issue and clearly holding back her emotions.

Jason was such a promising kid. If he had to drop out because of tuition, she’d feel endlessly guilty—it would’ve been such a loss. Cassandra arriving just in time to help felt like a blessing.

“I just want to keep this between us, Dr. Jackson. Especially, don’t let Jason find out,” Cassandra added seriously.

“Why can’t he know?” the director asked, confused.

Usually, when people get help, knowing who supported them keeps them motivated, maybe even gives them a reason to pay it forward someday.

“Well, he’s proud, stubborn even. If he found out the one paying his fees is a girl only three years older than him… yeah, I don’t think he’d take that well. Maybe once he’s made something of himself, then he can know,” Cassandra replied with a soft smile.
