“What’s wrong? Not allowed?” Ethan leaned back lazily, his tone casual.

Clara dropped her gaze.

After thinking for a bit, she spoke softly, “I don’t really have time to create anything new for you right now. If you don’t mind, I can pick out a finished piece for you.”

“Alright.”

Ethan was surprisingly easygoing and agreed right away.

The car fell silent again.

Clara quietly turned to look out the window. It was midsummer, and the trees lining the street were thick with lush green leaves.

“Still scared of me?”

Clara stared out the window at the passing view, while Ethan’s eyes had never left her.

When he said that, her body noticeably stiffened.

“I’m not scared...” Clara hesitated, then slowly turned back to face him. “It’s not that you’re scary, Mr. Blackwell. It’s just... we don’t know each other that well yet, so...”

“Hmm, so you feel we’re not close enough?”

Ethan suddenly leaned in.
