Gabriel Wallace quietly took her hand and held it. “Don’t worry about it.”

Lilah Hart gave him a helpless smile. “Worry? Me? If I started worrying about everything, I’d never stop.”

Leon Sterling was still staying at the Wallace place.

“Has anyone from the Sterling family tried to contact you?”

Leon was their only child—there’s no way they’d just cut him off. He’d been at the Wallace house for a while now, and they hadn’t shown any reaction?

“They reached out. I didn’t meet with them.”

Gabriel’s expression stayed calm, almost indifferent. When it came to other people’s stuff, he never seemed too bothered.

“Good. Let them figure things out themselves.” Lilah huffed. “Is family background really that big of a deal? Ms. Elena is from an academic family, totally worthy of Leon.”

Gabriel gave her hand a soft squeeze and nodded wordlessly.
