“This... doesn’t sound like a great idea,” Leon Sterling said, clearly hesitant. Even though he’d been pushing back against his family, he was still as polite and refined as ever—so yeah, Gabriel Wallace’s suggestion wasn’t sitting well with him.

“If you’ve got a better plan, go ahead. I’m just saying, if you cut ties with the Sterling family for Heather Taylor’s sake, do you really think they won’t make things hard for her?” Gabriel replied plainly.

The Sterling family hadn’t gone after Heather yet, mostly because they figured Leon was just acting out and would eventually come around. Plus, she was working as a tutor for the Wallace family, and that gave her an unspoken layer of protection.

But if Leon really severed all ties? The family had power, and once they saw him as completely out, would they still hold back?

“They wouldn’t dare,” Leon said coldly, his brows knitting together.
