“No time for this.”
Lilah Hart pushed his hand away without hesitation and turned to leave right after.
The meeting spot was a quiet little restaurant, tucked away from the city noise.
She’d gotten there early. About ten minutes later, a man in his forties or fifties showed up.
“Miss Hart, hello. I’m Maxwell Thornton, CEO of JM Group.”
“Mr. Thornton, it’s a pleasure. I’ve heard a lot about you.”
Lilah gave him a quick once-over. He wore black-rimmed glasses, his expression icy and stern—definitely not the friendly kind.
Thornton sat down and casually motioned the waiter to bring some food.
Since this was a business talk, they didn’t order much. Just some light dishes and two cups of tea.
Sitting across from her, Maxwell looked at Lilah through those sharp hawk-like eyes behind his glasses, scanning her from head to toe.
“You seem pretty young, Miss Hart,” he said, voice laced with pressure right off the bat.
