“Gabriel.”

Lilah walked up to him, feeling a sudden twinge of shyness as she faced the impossibly handsome man in front of her.

“Yeah,” he replied, sliding a hand out of his slacks pocket and striding over to the bodyguard in two long steps to take the cake box. The bodyguard got the message and backed off.

Gabriel carried the cake into the office. Aiden, already perched on the sofa, was kicking his little legs excitedly, clearly couldn’t wait.

“You really spoil him,” Gabriel commented as he set the cake down on the coffee table, glancing back at Lilah.

Lilah made a face. “Aiden’s over three now. He should try more stuff. Plus, you said it was okay.”

Since Gabriel didn’t protest, Lilah quickly crouched down in front of the table and carefully opened the cake box. There was a small spoon included. Just as she unwrapped it and was about to hand it to Aiden, she looked over at Gabriel, now seated on the sofa.
