"No one else dared help, and the Countess and the younger girl were duly roasted. When it was done, the mob brought six priests to the same fire and then cutting some of her breasts from the body, they ordered the priests to eat it. They all of them approached the horrid scene with their eyes shut, and did not speak a word in answer. The mob directly undressed the eldest of them, a man about sixty, and roasted him; saying, that the Clergy might perhaps like the flesh of their own better than that of the Countess. The other five instantly threw themselves into the fire, and were burnt to death, embracing each other; and though the mob did everything they could to get them out of the fire in order to prolong their sufferings, they could not effect it, as the fire was extremely fierce. This happened about ten o'clock on Monday night.
