Chapter 123. Rage Unleashed

Rasmus’s POV

The air was thick with tension. The wind carried the scent of earth and damp leaves, but all I could focus on was the location up ahead. We were close. Lila’s intel had better be right. Xerina was there, waiting. Captive.

My fingers flexed around the hilt of my blade as I glanced at Ruka and Luca beside me. Silent. Focused. They knew what was at stake. None of us could afford a mistake tonight.

“We hit fast,” I murmured, voice low. “No hesitation.”

Ruka nodded, his eyes sharp. Luca flashed a quick smile, one that didn’t reach his eyes. He was always ready for a fight.

The old barn loomed ahead, weathered and decaying. It matched Lila’s description. A perfect hiding place. It looked abandoned, but something felt off. I couldn’t shake it.

“Rogues are everywhere,” Ruka whispered, his voice barely a breath. “I can feel them.”

So could I. The air was thick with their stench—sweat, blood, and madness. The bastards were waiting.
