Chapter 13. Never Again
Xerina’s POV
Suddenly, as I steadied myself for his fist, the weight on me was abruptly lifted. I gasped for air, rubbing my sore throat, my vision clearing just in time to see a dark figure looming over him, grasping him with his hand around his throat and lifting him off the ground. I choked back a scream, scrambling on my knees and backing away. The cold concrete dug into my knees, but I hardly cared. I needed to get away.
But when I looked back over my shoulder, a strangled gasp left my lips as my eyes widened. He stood there, eyes blazing with fury, looking lethal and deadly, an aura of menace radiating from him. His presence was commanding and fierce, almost inhuman in its power.
“Rasmus…” I whispered in thin air. Someone from behind fisted my hair, and I yelped.
