Chapter 12. I’ll Teach You a Lesson
Xerina’s POV
“Damn it, stop the car!” I shouted, slamming my fist against the dashboard. The pain shot up my arm, sharp, but it was nothing compared to the agony he had made me suffer.
“Why?” his voice was low edge with a dangerous gleam. “So you can run away?”
“Run away?” I spat incredulously. “You’re the one who left, Rasmus. You walked away, and now you think you can just waltz back into my life and make everything right? You have no idea what you did to me, do you?” Here we were again. Like that night.
“I did what I had to,” he muttered, keeping his eyes straight at the road. Now, he didn’t have enough courage to look at me?
“You broke me,” I mumbled, looking away from him. “You broke me, and now you think you can fix it? You think you can fix me?”
He didn’t respond, and the silence was deafening. My heart pounded in my chest, a wild drumbeat of anger and pain. I reached for the door handle, desperate to escape, to breathe.
