Chapter 143. Amnesia
Xerina’s POV
The light was soft. Warm. It filtered in through the curtains, casting gentle rays across the room. For a moment, I didn’t move. I just lay there, staring up at the ceiling, watching the patterns of light shift across the walls. Everything was still. Quiet. Peaceful.
But something was wrong.
I blinked slowly, my mind sluggish, trying to catch up. Where was I?
I shifted, the bed beneath me familiar but strange at the same time. The room smelled faintly of lavender, a scent that tugged at the edges of my memory, but nothing came. Nothing.
I sat up slowly, wincing as a sharp pain shot through my side. My heart rate quickened, and I scanned the room again, this time with more urgency. The sunlight streaming in, the soft curtains, the wooden furniture—none of it felt right.
My breath hitched. What was this place?
I swung my legs over the edge of the bed, my feet hitting the cool floor, and that’s when it hit me. Hard.
