Elina's POV

"I would wait for you even if it meant a thousand years. I've found the one who makes my heart throb. You complete me, and I refuse to give up on my feelings for you," Mateo told me.

"He is unaware of the consequences of courting a rogue; people will make fun of him. There are a lot of ladies out there. How come he feels he can't breathe without me?" I thought to myself as I averted my gaze.

"Tell me you don't care about me; tell me you don't love me. Look me in the eyes and tell me all those things, and I will avoid you." Mateo took my hands in his and brought them up to his mouth to kiss, but I refrained.

I twitched my emotions and swallowed my saliva, looking away with my hands all curled around my chest. My entire body craves his touch, and I want to be in his arms. Unfortunately, I'm too afraid. He is not my mate. We were brought together by fate.

"What if I make a mistake? What if Alpha Leo finally wakes up and comes after me?" I quest
