Chapter 30. Enemies
The room was stale—poorly lit, thick with the scent of damp earth and standing water. Shadows clung to the cracked stone walls like secrets waiting to be spilled. Ron sat at the head of the long table, flanked by Alphas and Betas from both recognized and rogue packs. The air was tense, each word measured, each glance sharper than teeth.
“She’s been marked,” a voice muttered. It came from an older Alpha seated near the end. “Claimed by Aries. That makes this personal.”
Still, Ron’s expression remained unreadable, carved from stone. “Exactly why we strike now,” he said, voice calm, but heavy with intent. “While the iron is still hot. Before she becomes untouchable.”
“She already is, Alpha Ron,” another growled. “Do you know what she is? Do you truly grasp the extent of her power? She’s not just a wolf. She’s the Elegida—the Chosen One. And now she’s been marked by Aries. She’ll be guarded like a queen. We won’t get near her.”
