I smiled and gently held his hand, “Of course, you’re welcome to stay as long as you need. You don’t have to worry. I’m here for you, and you can always count on me.”

He looked relieved and grateful, “Thank you, Abigail. Your kindness means so much to me.” I smiled.

We spent more time together, talking, laughing, and enjoying each other’s company. As the days went by, he slowly started to open up about his feelings and fears after the kidnapping. I listened to him with all my heart, offering support.
