Michael’s eyes widened, his surprise evident. “What are you talking about?”
Samuel’s voice was steady, his gaze unwavering. “Abigail’s disappearance, the attack on me—do you know anything about it?”
Michael’s brows furrowed, his expression conflicted. “Samuel, I swear I had no part in any of that.”
Jota’s gaze was sharp as he observed Michael’s reactions. Samuel’s instincts were torn between wanting to believe his brother and the need to get to the truth.
“I want to believe you,” Samuel admitted, his tone a mixture of hope and caution. “But something doesn’t add up.”
Michael took a step forward, his eyes pleading. “Samuel, you know me. You know I would never do something like this.”
