Chapter 65. A Jealous Buddy
Ellie's POV
Do I sense something in his tone, or is my mind still haywire? "You don't have to worry, because I will put anyone who dares to bother me in their exact place." I wink at him so that he stops being a gloomy jerk. He is something else. He has no reason to be jealous, or does he?
"Okay. Don't do that again, please. You are my responsibility, and I worry whenever you are out there all alone."
"I promise. Can we go in now?" I implore. It's good to know someone cares for me, and it has to be him.
He closes the tiny gap between us, cupping my face and admiring it for a while, like he usually does. Then he says, "No. I just wanted to check on you and make sure you were fine. I have loads of work waiting for me. Goodnight."
He kisses my lips gently and then pulls away. He turns to leave, but I grab his hand and fall into his arms. I feel so safe when I'm wrapped in his protective arms like this.
