Chapter 22. A New Beginning for My Bully

After our stay in the hospital, we headed back to my place. We decided that we would both take a leave of absence from work, canceling all our classes because no one else was qualified to teach them. Jessica drove us home from the hospital after checking in with the Detective.

“You two sure fell in love during a shitty time,” Jessica complained as she drove us.

“What is it they say about making love stronger?” Austin asked from the back seat.

“Trauma makes love stronger?” I offered jokingly. We both laughed as Jessica scowled at us.

“I guess it could be worse. You could be dead instead of in a trauma-based relationship,” Jessica jabbed.

“We technically started falling in love before our lives were threatened,” Austin corrected her.

“Just barely,” Jessica smirked.

“I understand your concern, but I think we will be alright. We survived a great ordeal together. It should make us closer even if we were not in a romantic relationship,” I told her
