Chapter 68. Let the Games Begin
Ally's POV
The chill of the night seeps into my bones, a reminder of the darkness that has fallen over us. The moon, full and accusing, casts long shadows across the path as I trail behind Elliot. His form is a fleeting ghost amongst the trees, but my senses are sharp, honed by the wolf within me, Dawn, who paces restlessly in my mind.
"Elliot," I whisper into the void between us, but he does not turn. He moves with a purpose I cannot fathom, his shoulders rigid under the moon's caress. My heart races, fear mingling with the cold that clutches at my skin; something is wrong, terribly wrong.
I push through the underbrush, twigs snapping beneath my boots, their protest loud in the silent woods. Finally, I catch up to him at the edge of a clearing, where he stands motionless, staring into the abyss of the night. "Elliot!" I call out again, louder this time, willing him to hear me.
