Chapter 31
Faye's extravagance started with the choice of my dress. He was full, with petticoat and heavy skirts, identical to the older dresses that humans would wear at period dances. It was black and accompanied a small hat and embroidered with lace, which left me with the appearance of a widow of the Victorian era. I had my face painted with blush, and colored shadows on my eyes, and my hair was stuck in a bun that left the hat slightly tilted forward. I didn't really like my appearance when I looked at myself in the mirror, for the clothes and also because it took many layers of makeup to hide the shadows around my eyes, and having the bones so visible gave me the impression of being vulnerable and brittle in the midst of so many lethal creatures. Although no one could doubt that there was nothing as deadly as the queen of hell.
