Chapter 40. Sushmita Is Lonely

Sushmita’s POV

1 week later.

Rodney flew again to New York. He left me again in this cold manor guarded by so many men in tuxedos and Daniel. I never get used to it.

I was watering some plants on our terrace while I kept thinking about Rodney, he knew I was pregnant but he chose to leave me again. I don’t know what to think anymore.

The more that he’s away from me, the more that I hated him, but when he’s here, I became so weak that I couldn’t even talk about how much I hated him for leaving me. It was like I married a soldier whose life is always in danger and you have no idea when he will come back or will he ever come back?

I pressed the spray bottle to water the orchids when I suddenly heard my phone rang. It was Rodney so I answered it immediately.

“Hey, Honey?”

I said on the other line.

“Hello? How are you, baby? I miss you.”

He said but suddenly I heard him cough.

“Wait. Are you alright? Why are you coughing?”
