Chapter 197. Acceptance or Close

“You might not have noticed it but your father seems happier, Issa. Happier than I have ever seen him. And so does your friend, Nica. They have the same spark we both have with each other…”

I sniffed, smiling and he grinned. I could tell that he had used us as reference to get that smile on my lips but then he was right. I had noticed my father had seemed happier than the last time I had seen him but I had thought it was because he was really happy to see me but now I knew it was because he was in love. And I had seen the spark Nica's eyes held at the lake. 

They were both in love…they were happier than they had ever been, and despite the pain it had caused me, I couldn’t deny them their happiness. No one had denied me mine.

“They didn’t mean to hurt you,” Matthias emphasised. “They were just trying to find happiness in a world that can be so harsh. I am sure you know how that can be.”

I hummed. I did. “I need time,”
