“Well, you should have thought about that before doing what you did,” I spelt out and Nica burst out chuckling but it was a bitter chuckle.

“What I did?” She asked in a voice so heavy it tugged on my heart and I had to resist hard the urge to just hug her and stop fighting with her already. 

I really hated that we were fighting but I was hurt. Too hurt… I felt betrayed. 

“What I did was fall in love with a man who sees me for me…who makes me happy. Is that really so wrong?”

“He is my father!” I emphasised. 

“Well, it's not all about you! Don't you see it, Issa. This situation is not all about you.”

My eyes widened in shock. “Not all about me? This is my family we are talking about, Nica. My life. How could you expect me to be okay with this?”
