Chapter 27. Love Birds

Issahil's POV

[Flashback continues]

He was carrying everything we had bought, including the dresses and when I offered to help carry some, he refused.

We moved to a stretch of brick-moulded chairs by the roadside and sat down, and then I dug into the fishcakes, consuming it hungrily. 

My appetite seemed to have returned since eating the broth Alpha Matthias had brought for me the previous day. I had eaten a hearty breakfast that morning before we left and it wasn't even noon yet I was famished. I knew it was the baby's doing. 

Alpha Matthias just sat down quietly beside me but I could feel his gaze on me, watching me. Slightly nervous, I turned to him and offered him some of the fishcakes but he shook his head in negation, refusing it.

I frowned, feigning annoyance and he immediately reached out to accept it, and then he took a bite from it.
