Chapter 22
Blair’s POV
I took a deep breath, pushing down the ripple of discomfort that threatened to engulf me. “He doesn’t deserve to be in Nathan’s life, Rosa,” I said, my voice firm. “And frankly, I don’t want him around. All he brings is negativity.”
A small smile tugged at the corner of my lips. “I just can’t afford to dwell on him. The more I think about it, the more miserable I get. And right now, I have zero time for misery.”
Rosa grinned, her usual enthusiasm returning to her eyes. “That’s the spirit! Let’s not waste another minute on someone so insignificant, someone whose name I can barely even remember. What was it again?”
That made me laugh, a genuine, full-bodied laugh that echoed through the cafe. And dear God, it felt good. Maybe Rosa was right. Maybe focusing on the positive, on Nathan and my work, was the best way to move forward.
“Yes. Let’s talk about something slightly less painful: work. How’s Roy fairing these days at work?”
