“W-what are you doing here?” Christian asked, looking confused that I was blocking his way.
He looked as though he had been searching for something in the backyard. Or someone.
“What are you doing in my backyard?” I countered.
After running out of the hospital when the nurse told me the operation was successful, I went home to clean the place up. I had asked Martha to look after Zion while I quickly did a little cleaning. I planned to return afterward to the hospital to refresh Zaya’s clothes — and mine — then stay with her.
So how Christian got here puzzled me.
