Chapter 76. Codza Sisters Meet
I watched Denise cat-walk into the restaurant dressed in a wine-colored dinner gown, hugging her figure gracefully and making her long, slender legs look endless. She stole glances around the extravagant restaurant, searching for her escort, and when she noticed him, a warm smile crossed her face.
“Phil,” she greeted.
“Denise,” he replied with a nod, standing up politely as she sat.
“I didn’t think you’d come,” she admitted in her soft voice.
Phil smiled. “I almost didn’t. But I wasn’t going to cancel on you a second time.”
She looked relieved. “Thank you.”
I watched from a distance, behind my menu, pretending to read while I subtly observed. Seeing them together stirred something inside me — something uncomfortable, something sharp.
