Chapter 79. A Shady Past
“Hello, ma’am.” The young guy I’d employed earlier greeted me. I couldn’t even remember his name.
“Hello,” I murmured.
“Mr. Jerome asked me to tell you that your bath is ready.”
“Okay. Thank you.”
He bowed slightly and left.
I walked toward the massive bathroom, the scent of essential oils greeting me first. The bathwater was warm, gently steaming. I removed my clothes and sank into the tub, letting the heat ease the tension in my body.
But my mind refused to rest.
Jerome.
I still couldn’t believe I was here — in his house — after everything that had happened. After everything he had done.
Why did I even come?
Oh, right. To talk.
