Chapter 40
Sitting here talking away, time passes quickly, Helen walks in with the girls, looking worn out. She is too old for this, but I hate saying no to her. She is smiling from ear to ear.
“Hi Alena and Georgina, I brought the girls back. There are some bags in my car.” I look at Georgina. She walks out to the car.
“Come sit down, Helen. You look worn out. I will make you a drink. Let me put the girls in the playroom.” Walking the girls to the playroom, I look back at her. She doesn’t look well at all. Maybe I need to be stricter and say no more. I see her as my own Mum, the Mum I never had. We have become so close.
“I am fine, honestly, just old age getting to me.” Her smile is soft. Georgina walks through with bags and bags of stuff. I’m fighting not to roll my eyes. I ignore how much she bought and sit with her.
