Chapter 47. My Goodbye
Watching as he walks away, I sit on the edge, my legs dangling off the side.
“I love you, Marcus, and I am sorry I did not see just how much until those final minutes. I wish I could see you again, alive, to tell you but I can’t.”
Looking at my hands, they no longer look stained with blood. My skin is clear. My hand rests on my stomach.
“We are calling him Marcus after you. You saved me and him. Without you, I wouldn’t be sat here today. I don’t even know why I am sat here talking. You can’t hear me and this place has no reference to you at all. But it is beautiful, and it makes me feel at peace and like I am ready to let you go. Goodbye, Marcus. I will always love you.”
Getting up, I walk through the trees, seeing Jackson and the girls not that far ahead. Wiping my eyes, I try to sort myself out. This is our holiday. I need to move on, as hard as it will be. Catching up to Jackson, he kisses my cheek.
