Chapter 31

Falling asleep, I wake to hear a light knock at the door. Sitting up, I cover Roxy; she is not waking up.

“Yes,” I call quietly, hoping not to wake her. Jackson walks in looking at the glasses on the floor and empty bottle, his laughter sounding around the room.

“So, you got drunk and passed out? Don't worry. I am not mad. It just means you know her a bit better, and maybe next time, you will both feel confident enough to take the step.” He walks towards the bed, noticing our clothes thrown on the floor.

“Ah, maybe not.” He looks at me intrigued; he clearly didn't expect me to do it. I now feel embarrassed. This is not something I expected to do ever; fantasies are not often acted out. “Did you both really drink all of that?” He leans down, picking up the bottle. He looks shocked. Why would he be shocked by me drinking his whiskey?

“I drank most of it; she isn't a drinker really.” I laugh, getting out of bed, my hands put up the grown from next
