Chapter 6. Failed Bet
I begin typing it in and open the door. As I do, the lights instantly come on but are tinted red, making the room glow. My gasp from the shock surprises me. I take a couple of steps in and begin to look around me, my heart pounding so fast and hard within my chest. It is like his shop, but worse. There is a dog bowl on the floor, collars, leads, and stuff that looks like it should be in a medical room, not in a room in someone’s house. I have never seen some of these things before and, right now, I know what he means with his ‘weather’ explanation. There is even a pillory. I stay standing for a second, trying to sort my mind out so when I turn to face him, I won’t look like I want to run. Staying here, though, makes me feel awkward, so I can’t just stay here. I just need to hope he doesn’t realise it. As I turn to look at him, his smile grows.
“What did I tell you? You're so stubborn and just couldn’t wait, could you? Now you will never want to walk in this room again,
