His face went deep red, eyes suffusing with an emotion, it took her a moment to recognize. Hate. Pure hate, ten times stronger than what Sha had seen at that village when they sabotaged their attack the previous week. Was he that angry with her for killing that heartless bitch? The thought came as something of a shock. Of course, most people would get mad about stuff like that, but wolves did not normally make a big deal of it, especially if they weren’t emotionally attached to the woman. They usually laughed it off as if, in some perverse way, they were pleased with having one of their whores murdered. Years ago, she had bit off one of Declan’s ears. He did not hold a grudge. If anything, he was proud of that missing ear and would tell any mutt who asked exactly how he had come to lose it as if it proved they had some kind of close, personal relationship.
