Chapter 56

Tessa and I head to the room where I met Ashton when I first came here but when we reach there, we don’t see anyone. The room is literally empty. Everyone must be at the ceremony already.

“Where could he be?” Tessa asks me, and I don't reply to her. I simply lead her out of the room and we check the next room. As we get closer to it, we begin to hear people arguing. 

I open the door and Tessa follows behind me closely. The room is not as big as the other ones in the building. It looks like a conference room. There are chairs tucked in front of a long fancy table.

In one of the chairs, we see Ashton dressed up in a tux, looking ready for the wedding. He has his head bowed down in his hand and looks like he has been crying. 

“You have to be freaking kidding me!” I hear Zoe and I see her in the room for the first time. She turns to me and says, “Get him out there, Lara!” 

“What’s going on?” Tessa asks the question that was at the tip of my tongue.
