Chapter 62

Everyone's attention is now on Harper and her mother. It may seem like an outrageous accusation to make but Harper, her mother, and I know that it is more than true. 

Harper looks my way and the way she is looking at me is clear that she wants me to help them; to intervene in some kind way.

“That is a very serious accusation, sir,” Ashton tries to calm the man down. “Do you have any proof of this?”

“You sure as hell do!” 

“Then why would the investigation be closed down if you do have evidence?” Ashton asks the man.

“I don’t know, don’t ask me, ask them!” He points at Harper and her mother again.

“I-um, can I say something?” I try to join the conversation. “This is a baby shower and I doubt this is the way that the parents of the child wanted this day to go.” I glance at Ashton and an emotion flashes in his eyes.

“You think I don’t know that? But it was the only way for me to see the Alpha. I have been trying to see Ashton for months now
