Chapter 68

The man stared at me and did not attempt to leave the elevator. When the automated doors began to close, he stopped them by blocking them with his arm. The doors sensed his arm and then opened once again.

“This is your stop, no?” I asked him as an amused smile sat on my lips.

“Yeah, but I was enjoying talking to you,” He chuckled, and then wiggled his eyebrows.

“Do you have a crush on me or something?” I joked, and the man laughed. 

“Or something. I may like you and what have done for this city but not the kind of like that develops into a crush.” 

“What have I done for the city?” We were holding on to the elevator just to talk and it seemed so amusing to me. “I’m just a she-wolf who’s engaged to the king.”

“Number one, you’re not just anybody. You seriously have no idea what you have done for this city, do you?” John asked me. The look on his face let me know that he was serious.
