Chapter 18
“Stop staring,” Harry spoke up, and Brooklyn quickly snapped her head to the front. “It’s only fair, considering you’d probably call me an ass if I kept staring at you.”
“I wasn’t staring,” Brooklyn muttered, and she frowned when they missed the turning for the school. “W-What are you doing, Harry? Why aren’t we going to school?”
Harry turned to Brooklyn. “Have a little faith, babe.”
“No, take me to school,” she demanded.
“Now, who really wants to spend the day cooped up in a hot, stuffy classroom when we could do something much more fun?” Harry said, and Brooklyn gasped when he pushed on the gas and the car sped forward.
“Harry, no,” Brooklyn said, and her mouth dropped when she heard the click of the doors locking.
“It’s not locking you in,” Harry tutted. “It’s stopping you from doing something stupid like jumping out.”
“I think it’s locking me in,” Brooklyn said. “You’re not exactly giving me a choice in this, are you?”
