I almost collapsed in front of the Alpha’s desk—my legs gave out, and every ragged breath tasted like that twisted magic. Weston swung the door open, and the shadow on his face told me he already knew something was terribly wrong. Colton was inside, too, rising to his feet the moment he saw me.

“Alex, what happened?” he asked, his voice tight.

I couldn’t meet their eyes all at once. How do you explain something that shattered every part of your world? How do you tell Colton that the woman he loved destroyed the person who gave him life?
