Chapter 14. This Changes Everything
Silence hung heavily in the room, the weight of the situation pressing down on both of us. Sniffling, I wiped my red eyes and looked at my mother, hoping for some words of guidance or comfort. But her face remained expressionless, giving away nothing of her thoughts or emotions.
"Mother, please say something," I pleaded, my voice filled with desperation.
"Tell me everything," she finally spoke, her voice calm but tinged with concern.
I took a deep breath, trying my best to keep myself composed as I recounted the truth to her. "I found out yesterday, Mother. I'm pregnant."
Her eyes widened slightly, and she leaned back in her chair, taking in the unexpected revelation. "How far gone are you?" she asked quietly, her tone laced with a mix of curiosity and worry.
"A month. I don't know what to do, Mother. It's all so sudden," I confessed, my voice trembling with uncertainty.
