Chapter 4
Moments later, Chris and Erin had finally made it back to the party. As soon as they both had rounded the corner, they find themselves face-to-face with the bustling party. Erin’s body froze for a moment, doubts sneaking back into her mind.
“Are you okay?” Chris asked. His voice was barely a whisper. “If you don’t want to be here, no one is forcing you. Your brother would understand.”
“No, no…” Erin said, taking a deep breath as she stepped back into the room. “I have to face this sooner or later.”
She glanced around, noticing the judgmental looks she was getting from some of the employees as she walked by. She knew exactly what they wanted to say to her and what they had in their minds, and it scared her for a moment as she quickly averted her gaze.
